Changes to the Enrollment Period and Late Applicant Process |
In response to your valuable feedback, we are pleased to announce important enhancements to our enrollment process. These updates aim to provide greater flexibility and significantly improve the experience for both administrators and employees. |
Extended Enrollment Period for Mandatory Plans |
-
The enrollment period has been extended from 31 days to 12 months.
-
New employees can enroll without needing to provide medical evidence or proof of insurability within this period.
-
If enrollment isn’t completed within 12 months, individuals will be classified as "Late Applicants," who will need to submit medical evidence for approval, which is not guaranteed.
-
Premiums will be retroactively applied from the employee’s eligibility date.
Example: An employee eligible for coverage on January 1, 2024, submits their application on March 15, 2024. Under the new rules, the employee will be enrolled as of January 1, 2024, without a Late Applicant status. Premiums will be backdated to the eligibility date. |
For groups with optional enrollment (association groups), the enrollment period has been extended from 31 days to 90 days, giving members additional time to consider their options.
Please feel free to reach out to your Assumption Life representative if you have any questions. |
